MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT KUMERICA
Whether by hate, prejudice or tribal sentiments, some few people especially non-Asantes (or Non-Kumasi people), have misfeelings, bad ideas and misconceptions about Kumerica movement. Anti-Kumerica (or Anti-Kumericans) or haters of Kumericans believe that Kumerica is:
- POLITICAL MOVEMENT
A political party or political body or political movement. Out of fear, jealousy or hatred some few people think Kumerica in future would become a political party or political movement that would compete for political power in Ghana or divide Ghana or bring war in Ghana. They misconstrue the ideas behind the social rebranding of Kumasi as Kumerica to be a political body which would support a particular political party in Ghana. But we, Kumericans want to emphatically and strongly refute this misconception that Kumerica is not a political body (political movement) or Pro-NPP or Anti-NDC, and does not support and will never support any political party. Kumerica is simply Kumasi, and it’s for Kumasi people and made by Kumasi people. Kumerica [noun] is an internet slang (sensational social media term) for the city of Greater Kumasi. We have no intention of turning Kumerica into political body or political movement. - TRIBALISM OR ETHNOCENTRIC GROUP
A tribal movement or tribalism. Anyone who thinks Kumerica is tribalism or tribalistic or ethnocentric is getting the whole vibe wrong. Kumasi houses the most mixed people of all tribes, clans and ethnic groups in Ghana so it is not tribalistic or trial movement. Every tribe or ethnic group in Ghana has a place or geographical location allocated to them to settle and live there as their homeland. Kumerica is not Pro-Asantes or Anti-Asantes. As long as you live in Kumasi, and/or born in Kumasi you are a Kumerican, it does not matter your physical location on the planet, your clan or ethnic group or tribe or religion and region or language. Kumerican is someone who lives in and/or born in Kumasi (Kumerica), and it doesn’t matter whether the person dresses and behaves like a Black American or lives in luxurious lifestyle with bling-bling. It for everyone and anyone who live in Kumasi and Asante Region, born in Kumasi and Asante Region, love Kumasi and Asante Region, like Oseikromfou and Asantes. Anyone, as long as, your spirit and feelings tell you, a kind of strong bond for the Kingdom and Manhyia, can become and is Kumerican. - SECESSIONISTS OR HIGH TREASON
Formed to become a secessionist state (severance) and separates itself from Ghana. Kumerica is not claiming and will never claim to be a secessionist or separatist or breakaway state. It has no intention of fighting for statehood or nationhood or sovereignty in Ghana. If we and any region want and can secede from the British Gold Coast (and become a sovereign state/nation) then that would have been the entire Asante Kingdom, but not the Kumasi city. Kumerica is just a sensational term for Kumasi, not something different from Kumasi or a different city in Kumasi (or Asante Region) that wants a secession. Kumerica is still part of Ghana and will continue to be part of Ghana. We, Kumericans and people of Kumasi have no intention of aiming at secession or sovereignty in Ghana. Kumerica is not like others who want a breakaway from Ghana. The mere fact that we’ve creatively designed Kumerica Passport, Kumerica Flag, Kumerica Dollar, Kumerica Transport, Kumerica Flight on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, iTunes, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat etc, does not mean it is a secession or seeking a secession. Those creative arts like Kumerica Visa, Kumerica Passport, Kumerica Flag, Kumerica Dollar etc are for fun and humour side of Kumerica which people enjoy playing around on social media. Of course, it is the fun aspect of Kumerica on social media. It has nothing to do with crime, secession, high treason, infidelity, treasonable offence, non-allegiance, disloyalty, treachery or first-degree and unpardonable crime.
We’re not saying the name Kumasi should be renamed as Kumerica—–no! We are only calling our way of life as Kumerica. The Funny aspect of rebranding the towns, areas and suburbs in Kumasi and Asante Region with nicknames like the States in America does not mean we want to be separatists or secessionists or breakaway city. Rebranding of Manhyia Palace as Washington DC, Bantama as Florida, Dichemso as West Virginia, Ahodow as Las Vegas, Suame as Miami, Santasi as Louisiana, Atasomanso as Michigan, Kejetia as New York, Adum as Manhattan, Tafo as California, Krofom as Ohio, Ashtown as New Jersey are all the social media frenzy fun aspect of the movement. They are just mere nicknames but some few people are reading negative meanings into it. If you don’t want to have fun with Kumerica on social media just shut up and fight your depression and stress lonely. - MENTAL SLAVERY OR MODERN SLAVERY
A sign of (form of) mental slavery or modern slavery). If anyone has juxtaposed Kumerica with modern slavery (mental slavery) then that person is rather a slave. What is slavery about giving yourself a nickname (like Kumerica, ZoroKing, Naby) as compare to naming yourself (or giving yourself) a name (like John, Prince, Daniel which are European, White and foreign names)? If you have been given European names and you claim that Kumerica [which is not the real name of Kumasi but just social media sensational term (nickname) for Kumasi] is mental slavery then your European name makes you more inferior and slave than the nickname Kumerica. Prove yourself if you are not a slave then stop using Europeans, Americans and Asians products like Nike shoes, Adidas, Gucci cloths, Sony television, iPhone, Panasonic, Samsung, mobile phones, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Uber, BMW, Toyota, VW, cars, aeroplanes etc. This is because these products are not made by Ghanaians nor Africans but they are invented, made and brought by your slave masters. So in this 21st century if you still use them then you’re their slave.
To be original and get out of slavery you must use products made by Africans and Ghanaians, but it is possible for you. For those Ghanaians, Africans and black people who live in America or Europe or Asia doing ‘john things’ and still talk shit about Kumerica as mental slavery we will put yall on one scale with pigs. Kumerica is here to make Oseikromfou live their lives to the fullest; live the lifestyle they have always dreamt to live. What is mental slavery about young people manufacturing and selling shoes, T-Shirts, clothes, wall stickers, beads, necklaces, wristband, bracelet, armbands, keyholders with designs and symbols of Asantes’ flag, Asantes’ colours, the porcupine symbol, Komfo Anokye Statue, the Golden Stool, Dɛnkyɛm kyɛ (the Crown of Manhyia Palace), and the inscription ‘Proud Kumerican’ (or ‘KUMERICA’) which give them money for living? - DEMONIC ACTIVITY, ANTI-CHRIST OR OCCULT GROUP
Demonic activity, Anti-Christ, Satanic activity or 666 agenda by Satan. It so funny and shocking when we hear some people talking shit like this. Not sure whether these people want fame or recognition or want to tap from the never-ending flame of fame and sensational trendy wave of Kumerica that’s why they go to that extend to defame and reframe this genius idea of Kumerica movement with superstition and spirituality. The Funny thing is these prophets of doom and gloom never saw COVID19 (Coronavirus) coming; none of them was able to prophesy about it or suggest a solution or medication for it. We’re still in the COVID19 time, and the search and research for vaccine, drugs and medicines for the virus is not over why can’t they use their prophetic powers to find us medicines? The Satanic coronavirus is killing millions of people worldwide, so these wannabes and infamous and prophets of doom should channel their prayers on the virus and kill it (coronavirus disease), cure the infected patients and resurrect the dead rather than talking ignorantly and unwittingly about Kumerica. Ku merica is not Satanic, demonic or the mouth piece of some evils or devils or occults group. It has nothing to do with evil spirit, bad spirit or good spirit from heaven or hell; it’s purely creativity from the highest order of Oseikromfou. The youth are making Asakaa Drill (Kumerica Drill Music) and portraying their everyday hustles and struggles to earn a living, and somebody somewhere shamefully is tagging them and their struggle as 666 and Satanic activity. - GANG GROUP OR GANGSTER GROUP
A gang group, gangster group, an organized criminals or para-militia. The misconceptions that Kumerica is a gang group or would turn the youth of Kumasi into criminals and gangsters are mischievous and envious reported by some few non-allegiant Asantes to kill the spirit of oneness in us. Kumerica is not organized criminals or gang or won’t turn into paramilitary. Kumerica movement aims to ignite confidence and creativity in the youth in the areas of music, performing arts, craft, movies and manufacturing. The production of clothes, attires and T-Shirts by people like Kaakyire Y3dehye3 has nothing with gangsters or gang group. Young men in Kumerica are seriously making and designing T-Shirts with the name Kumerica and making money out of it, and some few personae non-grata are calling them gang group, LOL. Kumerica movement is not a gang group or will never degenerate into gangster group or gang group or para-militia group that will bring criminal activities into Ghana or will bring war, violence and division in Ghana. - ‘CHILDISH’, ‘JOKERS’ OR ‘NKWASIAASEM’
‘Childish’, ‘jokers’, ‘concert’, ‘barbaric’ and ‘nkwasiaasem’, therefore authorities like the government and HIM OTUMFOƆ should ban it or should stop we the youth from making it popular and global. Anyone who has such misconception and misfeelings like this is rather a ‘special child’ and needs a ‘special education’. Kumerica is not a childish or joking or concert or jokers or nkwasiaasem movement or whatsoever. It is a special and serious creative movement. How do you call a creative movement which has created a subgenre in hiphop (in Ghana music), called Asakaa Drill (or Kumerica Drill Music or Asakaa), as ‘nkwasiaasem’ or a movement which brought a Drill Music into Ghana as ‘Childish’? How would intelligent person tag Asakaa Drill Music SORE by Yaw Tog ft: O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay Bahd, as ‘nkwasiaasem’ music? Kumerica Drill Music, SORE, is featured globally on Billboards in Italy, UK, US and number one top play on Boomplay playlist; a music which is most played on iTunes, most trend on Twitter, and has most international reactions by global personalities as ‘childish’ group (movement)? Not to talk of AKATAFOƆ, another awesomesauce Kumerican Drill Music by Kawabanga ft: Reggie, O’Kenneth and Jay Bahd. These young guys in Kumasi have nicknamed themselves Kumericans and creating Kumerica Drill Music globally and making money out of it, and somebody in a small corner of Ghana is crying foul about the term Kumerica, ROFLOL!
While haters keep bleeding about Kumerica, the youth of Kumerica are creating Asakaa Drill music selling them on YouTube, Boomplay, iTunes; getting more subscriptions and likes (which are monetized for them) — who is being ‘childish’? Young entrepreneurs [like Kaakyire Y3dehye3] in the name of Kumerica are making clothes, T-Shits, Attires, Banners, Calendars, Flags, Beads, Wristbands, wristlet, necklets and logos with Asantes’ colours, Asantes’ flag and inscriptions like ‘KUMERICA’, ‘PROUD KUMERICA’, ‘I LUV KUMERICA’, ‘PROUD KUMRERICAN’, ‘PROUD ASANTE’, and you think this is a ‘joke’ movement or ‘jokers’ group. Man, wake up and stop dreaming because we ain’t stopping now or here or there! Kumericans making money from this ingenious term KUMERICA and you’re making noise and crying over this term (Kumerica). Check YouTube and Facebook, and all over the social media platforms, Kumericans are making skits, short series of videos, episodes, films, music, dramas and movies with Kumerica contents and ideas, and getting paid from these social media platforms but naysayers think Kumerica is a ‘joke’ or ‘nkwasiaasem’, LOL! Creating content on social media or making products with just the name Kumerica alone can sell your products and content. Kumerica is a magic wand. What a magic name!
You can decide to join Kumerica, enjoy Kumerica, or leave Kumerica, but don’t talk shit about Kumerica or form myopic and diabolical ideas and misconceptions about Kumerica. If you can’t beat them, you join them. ‘You can’t war with us!’ and ‘It is stronger than the Apartheid!’ Kumerica is here to stay forever!
